Ali S. Khan

Ali Khan, MD, MPH, MBA is Dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a former Assistant Surgeon General. A physician and epidemiologist, he spent 23 years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where he directed the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response and led responses to major health emergencies, including Ebola, SARS, and Hurricane Katrina. He helped design CDC’s bioterrorism preparedness program, co-founded its One Health strategy center, and has advanced global health security initiatives from malaria prevention to zoonotic disease control. His career focuses on emerging infectious diseases, bioterrorism, and health equity.
