
Omar Atiq
- Dr. Omar Atiq is a Pakistani-born physician, oncologist, and health leader. He served as the 2023–2024 President of the American College of Physicians, the largest medical-specialty organization in the United States. Raised in Peshawar, he graduated as the “Best Medical Graduate” of the University of Peshawar in 1983 after earning top honors in his early education. Over his career, he has played a prominent role in advancing medical practice and advocacy for physicians of Pakistani descent. A long-time member of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA), he served as its 25th President in 2004 and helped establish sustainable advocacy efforts for civil rights, young physicians, and international health programs such as APPNA SEHAT. He has also been a founding member of the Human Development Foundation of North America. His leadership and service have been recognized with the APPNA Gold Medal and the APPNA Lifetime Achievement Award.
