Saud Anwar, MD, MPH is a physician and state senator representing Connecticut’s 3rd District, where he serves as Deputy President Pro Tempore and co-chairs the Public Health Committee. A pulmonary and critical care specialist, he is Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at Manchester Memorial and Rockville General Hospitals. He previously served as mayor of South Windsor and has led on issues ranging from health equity and pandemic recovery to early childhood care and climate policy. Senator Anwar is active in humanitarian and peace initiatives worldwide and has received numerous awards for community leadership, including recognition from the FBI, the American College of Physicians, and the Anti-Defamation League.
